OSB (Oriented Standard Boards) Classification and Formulation – Oriented strand board.
– OSB board chips have a certain shape and thickness. In order to obtain a multi-layer board, the chips can be pressed with the help of a combiner unit.
– The chips in the outer layers of the boards are laid in the direction of the long axis of the board.
– The chips in the middle layer are laid in a direction perpendicular to the chips in the outer layer.
Kronospan OSB Particleboard Categories
According to the technical and production features determined by the EN 300 European norms, OSB Boards are divided into 4 categories:OSB1, OSB2, OSB3 and OSB4
Kronospan Bulgaria produces two of these categories in its facilities:
– OSB2 – load-bearing construction boards used in dry environments
– OSB3 – load-bearing construction boards used in humid environments

Kronospan OSB 2 Kronospan OSB 2 is manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the EN 300 standard. The technical parameters of the boards are completely suitable for the production of load-bearing constructions used in dry environments. /OSB2Type/
Kronospan OSB 2 Application Areas: – In interior constructions such as wall panels, floor panels and constructions. – In upholstered furniture manufacturing, in carrier constructions – As a decorative material – In shelf production – In packaging production for transportation (except for liquid transportation) – For the purpose of compressing the load in transportation.
Preservation, Storage and Transportation of Kronospan OSB Boards KRONOSPAN OSB Boards are stored on pallets. The board edges are covered with cardboard, and the pallets containing grooved-tongued boards are completely covered with kraft paper. The most sensitive points of the boards, the edge faces, must be protected from water. Care must be taken not to damage the edges during loading and unloading (especially in grooved-tongued boards). If the transportation distance is long or the product is stored for a long time, extra protection must be provided to the edge strips. Boards must be stacked horizontally on sufficiently smooth supports (the distance will be maximum 600 mm) or stored on their original pallets. It should be taken into account that the boards may change color over time if they are exposed to direct sunlight and UV rays. The situation described above must be taken into account both during the decorative use of the boards and during storage. However, the change in color on the surface of the OSB boards does not affect the technical features or quality of the boards at all.
Installation of OSB Boards Screws, nails or connectors are used during the fixing of KRONOSPAN OSB boards. The use of corrosion-resistant fixing parts directly affects the service life of the connected boards. In carrier constructions, absolute attention should be paid to the use of corrosion-resistant carrier elements. The attractive decorative appearance of sanded OSB boards completely affects their use. Applying polish, varnish or other protective materials to them can penetrate the gaps on the surface of the boards and cause the chip particles on the surface to separate. Such a situation is considered normal for OSB, which is a 100% natural material. Processing the surface of unsanded boards and using water-based protective materials can cause the boards to swell. Before applying the polishing process, absolute attention should be paid to ensuring that the surfaces are clean, dry and sanded. It is strongly recommended to perform a polishing test on a sample before applying a certain polishing system.
Cutting, sanding and drilling: Just like solid wood, KRONOSPAN OSB can be cut, milled and clamped without any problems. All known forest product hand tools can be used to cut OSB boards.
Note: Excessive humidity in the boards directly affects the quality of the board during cutting.
