APPLICATION AND FUNCTION
Schlüter ® -DITRA is a polyethylene insulation membrane with a dovetail-shaped square groove structure and a fiber-reinforced backing.
Designed for ceramic applications, the Schlüter ® -DITRA waterproofing membrane serves as a vapor pressure equalization layer in case of moisture inside and as a separating layer in problematic substrates.
To adhere Schlüter ® -DITRA, apply the appropriate ceramic adhesive (3 x 3 mm or 4 x 4 mm) to the substrate using a notched trowel. The fiber reinforcement on the underside of the Schlüter ® -DITRA must be completely bonded over its entire surface. The braid in the adhesive provides mechanical anchoring here.
The ceramic covering is laid directly on Schlüter ® -DITRA, where it is fixed to the ceramic adhesive in the square gaps of the Schlüter ® -DITRA membrane. Covering materials such as render or screed can also be applied over Schlüter ® -DITRA.
SUITABLE FLOORS
Substrates to which Schlüter ® -DITRA is to be installed must be absolutely level, solid, clean and tested for suitability. Any elements on the surface that could prevent adhesion must be eliminated. Any protrusions, elevations or slopes must be corrected before Schlüter ® -DITRA is installed.
