TS EN 1004 MOBILE SCAFFOLDING STANDARD
TS EN 1004 standard is a standard specific to Mobile Scaffolding, which specifies the minimum safety requirements and conditions of work scaffolds defined as mobile scaffolds with a height limited between 2.5 m and 12 m . Although mobile scaffolds are different from facade scaffolds in terms of their intended use, since they are similar to exterior scaffolds in terms of design, some articles of TS EN 1004 standard refer to TS EN 12810-12811 standard, which specifies the design conditions of exterior scaffolds. In TS EN 1004 Standard: Scaffolds defined as ``Mobile access and work towers made of prefabricated elements`` will be referred to as Mobilmod Frame Type Mobile Scaffolding Systems in this handbook. Mobilmod Frame Type Mobile Scaffolding Systems are designed according to the safety and design criteria of TS EN 1004 standard and are manufactured in this manner. Mobilmod Frame Type Mobile Scaffolding Systems` compliance with TS EN 1004 standard has been checked, approved and documented by Turkish Standards Institute. This user manual has been prepared in accordance with the TS EN 1298 standard in order to explain to the user the safe use of the described scaffolds in accordance with the standard, as a requirement of the TS EN 1004 standard.
MATERIAL PROPERTIES
- Industrial pipes and profiles made of S235JR structural steel (Min Yield Strength = 235 MPa) in accordance with DIN 2394, TS EN 10305-3, TS EN 10219-1/2 standards were used in all scaffolding elements.
- The frame uprights in the system are manufactured from steel industrial pipes with a section of Ø48.3x3 mm, horizontal elements are manufactured from Ø34x2 mm, diagonal elements are manufactured from Ø42.4x2.5 mm (Ø34x2 mm for Mobilmod 2001), and steel platforms are manufactured from specially shaped steel sheet with a wall thickness of t = 1.5 mm.
- Welded joints are made by certified welders qualified in accordance with EN 9606-1 standard within the scope of TS EN ISO 3834-3 QUALITY REQUIREMENTS FOR MELTING WELDING OF METALLIC MATERIALS standard using gas metal arc welding method.
- Scaffolding elements are coated with “hot dip galvanization” in accordance with TS EN ISO 1461 standard against corrosion.
- Forged steel clamps that comply with EN 74-1 standard are used in scaffolding.
- If scaffolding is used outside of the standard configurations approved by TSE, strength and durability calculations and static calculations must be made or must be made according to the selected installation and usage method.
- Periodic inspections and maintenance of scaffolding should be carried out at least every 6 months.
LOAD CLASS
- Mobilmod Scaffolding system is designed and manufactured according to Load Class 3 given in Table 3 of TS EN 12811-1 standard.
- The service load on the working area is accepted as 2 kN/m2 (200 kg/m2). A load greater than 200 kg/m2 cannot be loaded onto scaffold platforms.
- Also, an area smaller than 50 cm x 50 cm cannot be loaded with more than 150 kg,
- A single load greater than 100 kg cannot be applied to an area with dimensions smaller than 20 cm x 20 cm.
- It must be verified by performing static calculations according to the configuration used, whether the loads transferred from the platforms to the system can be carried safely by other elements.
When single loads of load class 3, uniformly distributed loads and partial area loads are applied to steel platforms in the most unfavourable position, the maximum deflection of the platforms remains within the limits required by the standard.
AREA OF USE:
Mobile scaffolding or wheeled scaffolding systems are used indoors as assembly scaffolding . Mobile scaffolding systems are used as assembly scaffolding on flat surfaces up to a certain height in all kinds of interior and exterior spaces such as electrical installations, ventilation systems, mechanical and sanitary installations, ceiling applications, etc.
